Cabernet Franc has found a new home in Villány. While it’s usually blended with other grapes outside of Hungary, it produces silky, juicy and complex red wines on its own in many Hungarian wine regions. Wassmann’s Cabernet Franc 2016 is a highlight even among top Villány Cabernet Francs: velvety smooth and full of flavor, made from carefully selected, biodynamically-grown grapes and aged for 21 months in oak barrels, with minimal human intervention. A layered, complex Villány red a step above the league.
