Wine & Culture at Home #7: Budapest Festival Orchestra LIVE & Vylyan Montenuovo 2015

Today, we recommend a live concert from the Budapest Festival Orchestra, paired with Vylyan Montenuovo, a smooth and silky red blend.

The Budapest Festival Orchestra is a widely acclaimed symphony orchestra founded by the Hungarian conductor Iván Fischer, who has also previously been the Music Director of the Konzerthaus Berlin. Tonight at 7.45pm, they’re playing a selection of works from Bartók, Bach, Mozart, Telemann and Tchaikovsky live online.

The wine to pair is Vylyan’s Montenuovo Cuvée 2015 from the Villány wine region. A blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, it’s a medium-bodied, elegant wine with a lively style. The wine is named after Prince Alfred of Montenuovo, a court officer in the Habsburg empire who had a villa in the region and who definitely had an ear for fine music, as he was responsible for the court theaters and was a supporter of Gustav Mahler at the time.
