Tokaj-Hétszőlő is one of the most historically important wineries in the Tokaj region. The estate is located on the southern slope of Tokaj Hill and today comprises 55 hectares of contiguous vineyard land. As early as 1502, seven exceptionally high-quality parcels were selected here, giving rise to the name Hétszőlő, which translates as “seven vineyards.” These sites are among the finest on Tokaj Hill and were already classified as Premier Cru in 1772, making this one of the earliest vineyard classification systems in the world.

The terroir is exceptional: volcanic bedrock covered by a thick layer of loess, combined with optimal south-facing exposure. The proximity of the Bodrog and Tisza rivers creates morning mists and an ideal microclimate, particularly suited to the development of Botrytis cinerea. These conditions not only shape Tokaj’s legendary sweet wines, but also give the dry wines depth, balance and precision.

Since 2013, the entire estate has been organically certified. Tokaj-Hétszőlő understands organic farming not as a marketing tool, but as a fundamental philosophy. Only estate-grown grapes are used, with minimal application of copper and sulfur, no synthetic plant protection products, permanent cover crops, active promotion of biodiversity and a consistently sustainable approach in the cellar. Today, all wines of the estate are organically certified, including Aszú and Szamorodni.
