Aszú is the top natural sweet wine category in Hungary. A wine style that has been made for hundreds of years, aszú wines are rich in complexity, amazingly balanced, and burst from flavor in your glass. Aszú wines are made from grapes that have been affected by botrytis (noble rot) and because they need a perfect combination of soil, grape and weather, they are only made in specific harvests. Every single grape is hand-picked at the optimum time, and the sweetness of the grape and acidity of the soil balance each other out to create a truly unique wine.
István Szepsy’s Aszú is as good as it gets. One of the top Aszú wines in the country, this wine packs layers and layers of depth and flavor. Three years of barrel aging, over 200 grams/liter of residual sugar, it really doesn’t get much better than this.
