Awarded a Decanter Silver Medal in 2023, the Farkó-kő Olaszrizling 2021 is a wonderful reflection of the unique limestone-rich soils of the Farkó-kő vineyard. This wine presents a deep golden hue, with a nose that combines delicately spicy, stony notes with aromas of lemon zest and dried pear. Lively acidity and flavors of peach and pear balance its tightly structured firmness. A lovely example of what the Olaszrizling grape variety is capable of when it’s at its best.

About the Zelna winery

Located in the popular Balatonfüred area on the northern shores of Lake Balaton, Zelna winery is a relatively new but rapidly growing estate established in 2014. The winery grows grapes on 15 hectares and has a strong focus on the local Olaszrizling (Welshriesling) grape variety. Dedicated to organic viticulture and producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Balaton area, their offerings are fresh, elegant, and expressive of their origins.

Key vineyards include Farkó-kő, Penke, and Berekszél, each contributing distinct characteristics to the wines. The Farkó-kő vineyard, with its limestone-rich soils and historical significance, is particularly noteworthy for producing wines with a strong sense of place and minerality.
