The Sauska Estate’s sparkling wine has arrived to our shelves! Sauska has been experimenting with bottle-fermented sparkling wine for over a decade now, and it’s amazing to see how far they’ve come.
Ever since 2011, when they first harvested grapes specially for sparkling wine, they’ve been relying on a blend of the local Furmint and Hárslevelű grapes with Chardonnay, the classic grape used in Champagne and elsewhere for sparkling wine. Currently, it’s a blend of 60% Furmint, 30% Hárslevelű and 10% Chardonnay, and combines the best of all the grape varieties and their local soils. To make sure the bottles develop and age under the best circumstances, the Sauska team now ages their sparkling wines in the deep cellars of Budafok, which were carved hundreds of years ago especially to make sparkling wine.
Clean-cut and vibrant, with notes of green apples, citrus, tropical fruit, and just a hint of volcanic minerality. Elegant bubbles and a clean, refreshing finish.
