In select years, the Sauska winery produces two premium wines in their ‘7’ series: one from the warmer Villány soils, and one from neighboring Siklós, a subregion producing slightly cooler, spicier wines. Rich and bold, but with a fine earthy-smoky elegance unlike most big reds from the region. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot, hand-selected with precision from the best vineyards of the area.
The Sauska winery gives prime numbers to its blends to indicate their rank among the winery’s reds; ‘1’, ‘2’ and ‘3’, which would be the highest categories, have yet to be made, and cuvées ‘5’ and ‘7’ are only produced in select years. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 17 months.
