Gál Tibor

The Gál Tibor winery is one of the best-known names in the Eger wine region. It was founded by Tibor Gál senior, one of the pioneers of Hungarian wine after the fall of communism. He gained international experience, including in Tuscany, and brought that knowledge back to Eger, where he played a major part in restoring the reputation of Egri Bikavér. His early, sudden death was a heavy blow to the family and to the whole region.

His son, Tibor Gál junior, known to everyone as “Titi”, took over the estate at a young age. After long and often difficult years, he now carries his father’s legacy forward with real success. The wines have grown more elegant and refined, defined by balance and harmony rather than power alone. Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) sits at the heart of the range, rounded out with Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Pinot Noir. A winery whose story you can taste in every glass.
