Tokaji Aszú is Hungary’s legendary sweet wine, once served at the royal courts of Europe. It is made from botrytis-shrivelled berries, picked individually and added to a base wine. The puttonyos number marks the sweetness, here five puttonyos.
Hétszőlő, one of the historic organic estates on Tokaj Hill, crafts an Aszú of real elegance. Ripe and dense, deeply complex and almost mysterious, with candied apricot, honey and orange zest over a fine acidity that carries it all. Give it time in the glass and it unfolds layer by layer. A wine for slow enjoyment.
