Update regarding the Coronavirus

Update 06/04/2020: Our deliveries from Hungary are up and running again! Some wines are still in backorder, but we’re continuously filling up our stocks.

Dear Friends,

Here are some updates regarding the Corona virus from our end.

We still have plenty of wine in stock in Berlin and we’re still able to deliver as usual. Wines that are in Berlin are marked with a 1-4 day delivery time in our store.

We’re cancelling all of our events for the time being. In Berlin, our friends at Cargo Gastronomia are planning to be open a couple of hours a day during lunchtime this week and you can still drop in to take some bottles of wine with you. Since the situation is constantly changing, it’s best to check with us or them before you go. In case you live in Friedrichshain: they deliver lunch (and wine) daily!

We don’t know when we’ll be able to deliver wines that are out of stock, as several borders have been closed and most shipping has halted from Hungary. We’re doing everything we can to get our supply chain back up and running as soon as possible. If you don’t mind waiting a bit longer than usual, we appreciate any preorders and promise to deliver them as soon as we can.

To make staying home easier, we now offer free delivery for orders over €80 in Germany, and for all orders over €20 in Berlin! We’ve also decreased shipping fees for all other orders to €4,95/order and have several new mixed cases to choose from. We take great care while packaging and handling your wine. You have several cashless payment options available.

All bars, clubs and cultural institutions have now shut here in Berlin, just like in most of Europe. Many of our friends working in the cultural and gastronomy sectors are fighting to survive the economic effects of the outbreak. Since many of our customers are in these sectors, we too have already started to feel the impact. Wineries will also be among those heavily affected.

In Hungary, an initiative has launched asking people not to refund their cancelled theater and concert tickets. This provides a little support to artists who will be facing a difficult time in the following weeks. If you can, consider joining the initiative and spreading the word. You can ask your favorite bar or restaurant for a gift certificate that you can spend later. For a lot of businesses, every little can make the difference.

Once this is all over, we’ll have a lot of new wines and events for you that we’re excited to announce. Until then, stay safe and watch out for your friends, family and neighbors. Now would be a good time to sit with your loved ones, open a special bottle, relax and enjoy.

If you’re looking for some entertainment while at home, we’re going to help: from Monday, March 16, we’ll be posting a daily recommendation for some Hungarian culture that you can enjoy from home: online concerts, movies, literature and more. We’ll also recommend some wine that goes with the experience, of course 🙂 If you have a recommendation, let us know!
