Visit Paprika & FriendsTransylvania, in present-day Romania, is a historic wine region with a strong Hungarian tradition. Around Ménes (Miniș), on volcanic, mica- and granite-rich soils, it grows mainly reds, including the Transylvanian rarity Feketeleányka (“black maiden grape”), along with Kadarka and Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch).
Winemakers like Balla Géza have revived the region’s old wine culture. Honest, low-intervention wines with history.
