Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) is the classic red grape of Szekszárd. The Heimann estate, a family of Swabian roots making wine since the 18th century, is one of the region’s best-known small producers.
This ripe, richly built Kékfrankos grows on poor loess with limestone. The grapes are hand-picked and spontaneously fermented, with around 10% whole bunches. The wine then ages for 14 months in 1000-litre oak, with low added sulphur. Juicy dark fruit, gentle spice and soft tannins. Best enjoyed at around 15°C.
