Piros is Heimann & Fiai’s fresh take on a traditional regional style, siller, a wine from red grapes that sits somewhere between red and rosé. It combines the lightness and drinkability of a rosé with the refined structure of a red. This version is made from two-thirds hand-harvested Kékfrankos, pressed like a rosé, and one-third whole-bunch Kadarka, all fermented with native yeasts. The result is juicy and vibrant, with low alcohol, layers of red fruit and a touch of spice. Chill it and enjoy, it’s easygoing but far from simple.
