Aszú is the top natural sweet wine category in Hungary. A wine style that has been made for hundreds of years, aszú wines are rich in complexity, amazingly balanced, and burst from flavor in your glass. Aszú wines are made from grapes that have been affected by botrytis (noble rot) and because they need a perfect combination of soil, grape and weather, they are only made in specific harvests. Every single grape is hand-picked at the optimum time, and the sweetness of the grape and acidity of the soil balance each other out to create a truly unique wine.

The Grand Tokaj 5 puttonyos Tokaji Aszú is an opulent, rich and fruity natural sweet wine with over 180g/l residual sugar, bursting with aromas of tropical fruits, honey and a hint of caramel. The sweetness blends well with the wine’s lively acidity, resulting in a lively, juicy and rounded version of Tokaji Aszú.

About the Grand Tokaj winery

Grand Tokaj is the classic winery of the Tokaj region. Descended from the former state wine combine, it remains the region’s largest producer and owns some of its finest vineyard sites. Where the name Tokaj once stood for mass production, Grand Tokaj has committed itself firmly to quality in recent years.

At its heart is sweet Tokaji Aszú, the legendary wine once served at the royal courts of Europe. From dry Furmint to 5 and 6 puttonyos Aszú, the winery covers the full range of Tokaj and acts as something of a backbone for the region. A producer no one in Tokaj gets past.
