Siller wine (pronounced Schiller) is a traditional wine style brought to Hungary by Swabian winemakers. Originally made by blending red and white grapes, today it is a type of darker rosé, halfway between a rosé and a red wine. Sauska’s siller combines the best of both worlds: light and refreshing like a rosé, yet with the full flavor of a juicy, soft red wine. Rich in red fruit flavors, this wine ist best enjoyed cold while having dinner in the park.

About the Sauska Villány winery

The Sauska winery in Villány is one of the most modern and innovative wineries in Hungary. It was established by Krisztián Sauska, a Hungarian expat from California, who also owns a winery in the Tokaj region. In Villány, Sauska create fruit-first, bold wines that include some of Villány’s most sought-after bottles. They focus primarily on red wines (mainly Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Kékfrankos) as well as a small amount of Chardonnay. Combining state-of-the-art equipment with great care and precision in the winemaking process, they are reinventing the area’s winemaking and raising the bar in Villány.
